ABOUT THE NAPLES AREA
Despite a population of only 22,600, Naples boasts the sixth-highest per capita income in the United States. The city is known for its world-class shopping, culture, and restaurants, as well as its proximity to some of Florida’s most important nature preserves, including the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge and the Everglades National Park. Naples greatest sports obsession, however, is Pickleball, a paddlesport combining elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The city hosts the annual Minto US Open Pickleball Championships.
Naples enjoys over 2,900 hours of sunshine a year, with highs in the seventies and eighties in the summer. Winters are short and generally frost-free. The city gets an average of 54 inches of rain a year, and summers can get uncomfortably humid. Expect the period between late September and early May to be windy but cooler.
