ABOUT THE RENO AREA
The “Biggest Little City in the World,” Reno is a casino-filled city nestled at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. With a population of 248,853, Reno is the fourth largest city in Nevada and the seat of Washoe County. The city was named after Union Major General Jesse L. Reno is served by the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and the Reno Amtrak Train Station. Reno sports fans have plenty to cheer about with two collegiate teams. The Nevada Wolf Pack competes for the University of Nevada in the NCAA Division I, while the Western Nevada College is home to the NJCAA Wildcats. The Reno Aces are the city’s minor league baseball team, and the Nevada Storm women’s football team competes in the WFA.
Reno can boast 300 days of sunshine a year, with only 7.48 inches of rain a year. Winters see light to moderate snowfall and temperatures in the low forties to mid-fifties. Summers are hot, with highs over 100℉ possible from June to September. Windy conditions are common throughout the year.
